Tottenham vs. Chelsea result: Thiago Silva, N'Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger score in London derby win

Thiago Silva - Chelsea - September 19, 2021

Chelsea is steamrolling its opponents to start the season and the defending European champs will once again be the favorites to take care of business against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, which is getting back some key players just in time for the match.

Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea team is undefeated on the season thus far (3-0-1, 10 points) and will look to keep pace with Liverpool atop the Premier League. The Blues have only allowed one Premier League goal this season and it came on a penalty kick.

Tottenham (3-1-0, 9 points) started the season strong with three straight 1-0 wins to start the Premier League season under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, but it fell 3-0 to Crystal Palace in its last outing. However, Spurs were reduced to 10 men in that match after a red card to Japhet Tanganga, and it was also missing star forward Son Heung-min and its contingent of South American starters, who were quarantining in Croatia after playing for their countries in September World Cup qualifiers. Spurs will have the trio and Son back for the derby match against Chelsea.

Tottenham will also have to contend with two fewer days of rest compared to their opponents: Chelsea played its UEFA Champions League group-stage opener at home on Tuesday (1-0 win over FC Zenit), while Spurs traveled to France to face Rennes on Thursday in a 2-2 draw that saw two more starters picking up knocks that forced them out of the match.

Son Heung-min and Eric Dier reportedly didn't train all week, but they're both starting, while the knocks that forced Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura out of Thursday's Conference League match are enough to keep both of them out vs. Chelsea. Spurs are already without suspended defender Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon, who's still battling a hamstring issue.

Tottenham starting lineup (4-3-3, left to right): 1-Hugo Lloris-GK — 3-Sergio Reguilon, 4-Cristian Romero, 15-Eric Dier, 12-Emerson Royal — 18-Giovani Lo Celso, 28-Tanguy Ndombele, 5-Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg — 20-Delle Alli, 10-Harry Kane, 7-Son Heung-min

Tottenham subs (9): 22-Pierluigi Gollini-GK, 2-Matt Doherty, 6-Davinson Sanchez, 14-Joe Rodon, 33-Ben Davies, 29-Oliver Skipp, 8-Harry Winks, 11-Bryan Gil, 44-Dane Scarlett

By comparison, Chelsea are fairly healthy heading into this game with American Christian Pulisic being the only injury absence due to the ankle knock picked up with the U.S. national team. More bad news for Tottenham: All-terrain midfielder N'Golo Kante is back on the bench for the defending European champions. No word as to what's keeping goalkeeper Edouard Mendy out of the lineup though a midweek collision against FC Zenit could be the culprit.

Chelsea starting lineup (3-4-3, left to right): 1-Kepa Arrizabalaga-GK — 2-Antonio Rudiger, 6-Thiago Silva, 4-Andreas Christensen — 3-Marcos Alonso, 8-Mateo Kovacic, 5-Jorginho, 28-Cesar Azpilicueta — 19-Mason Mount, 9-Romelu Lukaku, 29-Kai Havertz

Chelsea subs (9): 1-Bettinelli-GK, 14-Trevoh Chalobah, 21-Ben Chilwell, Reece James, 17-Saul Niguez, 7-N'Golo Kante, 20-Callum Hudson-Odoi, 22-Hakim Ziyech, 11-Timo Werner
