Cristiano Ronaldo setting records at Euro 2021: All the milestones by the Portugal star

Cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo was setting new marks left and right in his Euro 2021 opener and he has his sights set on another major milestone.

The 36-year-old scored two goals in Portugal's 3-0 win over Hungary. He converted a penalty kick and a few minutes later combined with a teammate for his second.

Here's a rundown of the new marks Ronaldo set in the Portuguese victory:

Most goals in Euros history

The penalty kick gave Ronaldo his 10th all-time goal in the European Championships. His first Euros tournament came back in 2004.

He beat France legend Michel Platini who previously shared the career honor before this penalty kick:

Most Euro tournaments

It has helped that Ronaldo is playing in his record fifth European Championships tournament. He set the mark when he set foot in the Puskas Arena in Budapest for his first appearance in the 2021 competition.

Ronaldo has played in every Euros competition since 2004, when Portugal hosted the event. He helped his country win it in 2016 and they enter the 2021 edition as reigning champions.

Chasing world goals record

Thanks to his two goals against Hungary, Ronaldo is now just three goals shy of tying the world record for most international goals by a male player.

He now has 106 goals in 176 games for Portugal, just three behind the all-time FIFA international record for men, held by Iran's Ali Daei.
