Texas A&M first-year starting quarterback Haynes King has been ruled out for the remainder of the fifth-ranked Aggies' game vs. Colorado on Saturday, the team announced.
King suffered an undisclosed lower-leg injury early in the first quarter, on Texas A&M's second drive of the game. He ran right on a zone read play and was thrown down by Colorado linebacker Guy Thomas; he appeared to land awkwardly on his feet. King left the field for evaluation shortly after the injury. He returned in street clothes and on crutches, with his right foot in a boot.
He finished the day completing 1 of 2 passes for 8 yards. He also rushed once for 2 yards.

Sophomore Zach Calzada took over for King. He completed 10 of 24 passes for 64 yards through the end of the third quarter and added four rushes for 14 yards. He led one scoring drive, capped by a 41-yard field goal by Seth Small to make the game 7-3, Colorado.
King, the No. 131 player in the Class of 2020, was also 247Sports Composite's fifth-ranked dual-threat quarterback. He completed 21 of 33 passes for 292 yards, with two touchdowns and three interceptions, in his season debut against Kent State.
