The sixth match of the Premier League season features a lot more than bragging rights at stake in the first edition of the Arsenal vs. Tottenham London derby.
After a difficult start to the season that at one point saw them in last place in the Premier League table, Arsenal (13th, six points) can catch Tottenham Hotspur (10th, nine points) in the standings. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been under pressure to start the season, but with the return of several injured players and the integration of his new transfer acquisitions, the Gunners turned in more solid displays in wins against Norwich City and Burnley. However, the Spurs are a very different test.
Under new coach Nuno Espirito Santo, Tottenham started the season at the top of the league, but has since come back down to earth after losses to Crystal Palace and Chelsea. A busy fixture schedule and a handful of key injuries have made for an up-and-down start as Spurs adjust to their new manager. The team is also waiting for captain Harry Kane to find the net in league play.

Mikel Arteta has a full-strength squad available to him with the return from suspension of Granit Xhaka and some big decisions to make. The 'keeper and back four positions look set, but the midfield and forward starters really depend on how Arteta thinks the Gunners can hurt Tottenham.

Conventional thinking would lead you to believe Thomas Partey needs either Xhaka or Albert Lokonga alongside him in central midfield. (Xhaka could have to play his way back into this squad and start from the bench). That would likely mean Bukayo Saka operating as a super sub.
