For anyone who's asking "What time is the NASCAR race today?" the answer is that you should tune in a little later than you may have last week.

The Cup Series is at Kansas Speedway this weekend for the Hollywood Casino 400, the second race in the Round of 8 and the eighth race in the 2021 playoffs. The 267-lap, 400.5-mile event on Kansas' 1.5-mile intermediate oval will begin in the middle of the afternoon, weather permitting.

NASCAR scheduled the majority of its 2021 Cup Series races for the afternoon. All remaining playoff races, including Sunday's, are scheduled to begin in the daytime.

The green flag for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series playoff race on Kansas Speedway's 1.5-mile intermediate track is scheduled to drop at 3:18 p.m. ET (2:18 p.m. local time) Sunday. The track has lights, so the race can finish after sunset if there is a delay.

And there is a high probability that the race will start late or go late. The National Weather Service's forecast for Kansas City, Kan., on Sunday is for cloudy skies, a 60 percent chance of precipitation and wind gusts approaching 30 mph. The high temperature is expected to be in the mid-70s. The forecast for Sunday night is for mostly cloudy skies, a 30 percent chance of precipitation and a low temperature the mid-40s.
