Chiefs fans are making donations in droves to a Buffalo area hospital to commemorate their AFC divisional-round victory over the Bills on Sunday.

More specifically, Kansas City faithful are donating to Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen's Patricia Allen Fund, which benefits the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. The donation amount: $13, to commemorate the 13 seconds it took for Patrick Mahomes to lead a game-tying drive at the end of regulation. The Chiefs would go on to score first in overtime, securing the 42-36 win and a fourth straight berth in the AFC championship game.

The idea originated from Twitter user "Chief Kingdom Memez," which included a link to Allen's fund and a suggestion that Chiefs fans make $13 donations. Though there's no way of knowing how many fans have donated how much money — according to the link —but the tweet had 32 quote tweets, 99 retweets and 467 likes as of 5:15 p.m. ET.

At the time of publishing this article, nearly 4,000 Chiefs fans combined to donate more than $60,000 to the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.

It's the perfect scenario for Chiefs fans: They get to donate to a worthy cause while rubbing their win in the faces of forlorn Bills fans. Speaking of which, Buffalo faithful likely won't turn down charity money for the local children's hospital (or shouldn't, anyway).

Oishei Children’s Hospital, for its part, was ecstatic to receive the influx of donations from Chiefs fans, even though it did acknowledge the heartbreak of such a devastating loss:

Curiously, this isn't the first time fans have flooded an opposing quarterback's charity organization with donations. Notably, Bills fans made significant donations to Andy Dalton's organization in January of 2018 after a last-minute touchdown against the Ravens guaranteed Buffalo would make the playoffs for the first time since 1999. Bills fans also donated more than $65k to Visually Impaired Advancement after refs’ blown calls vs. the Bucs.

It's a bittersweet way to end the season for Bills fans, but at least some good came of it.
