Who is in medal contention?

The main Australian medal contenders in Beijing include snowboarder Scotty James, mogul skier Britteny Cox, and mixed doubles curling duo Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt.

Scotty James claimed the bronze medal for Halfpipe at the 2018 Olympic Games, as well as notably winning the 2017 X-Games.

27-year-old Britteny Cox has represented Australia in the Freestyle Skiing Women's Moguls for the past three editions of the Games and will aim to use her experience to claim another medal this year.

Australia will have representatives in curling for the first time in 2022, as Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt look to build on their 2019 World Mixed Doubles fourth-place finish.

We also cannot forget that with COVID-19 impacting some athletes' availabilities, there is always the chance for some underdog medal opportunities.
