Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has endured a mixed start to the 2022 season.

Here is everything you need to know about him looking forward...

When will Nick Kyrgios play next?

Kyrgios was knocked out in the second round of 2022 Australian Open men's singles on January 20.

His time at the tournament didn't end there, however, as he teamed up with Thanasi Kokkinakis to win the Australian Open men's doubles title in fairytale fashion.

Their final was played on January 29 and marks the last time Kyrgios played competitively.

Looking forward, Kyrgios is yet to confirm where he'll be playing next.

He is, however, intending to play at more doubles tournaments with Kokkinakis, including the US Open.

In 2021, he had planned on playing in Mallorca and Stuttgart in the months after the Australian Open but withdrew from both before returning to the court at Wimbledon in late June.

Nick Kyrgios pre-season

Kyrgios planned to begin his 2022 season at the Melbourne Summer Set competition but withdrew due to asthma issues.

The Australian had been given a wildcard into the ATP 250 event.

He then intended to compete at the Sydney Tennis Classic before pulling out after testing positive to COVID-19.

His last match was at the 2021 Laver Cup in September, when he lost in straight sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Earlier in the year, Kyrgios suffered an abdominal injury at Wimbledon which forced him to retire from his third-round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Nick Kyrgios ranking

Kyrgios is currently at No. 93 in the ATP's ranking.

The 26-year-old achieved a career-high rank of No. 13 in 2016.

Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Alexander Zverev occupy the top three spots.

2021 was not the smoothest of years for the Australian with injuries, COVID-19, and personal matters affecting his season.

At the Australian Open, he began the tournament with two victories before losing in the third round to Dominic Thiem.

Kyrgios entered Wimbledon mid-way through the year, winning a five-set match against Ugo Humbert which was played over two days.

He met Félix Auger-Aliassime in the third round, however had to retire after the second set due to an abdominal injury.

His return to tennis in August was spoiled by first-round exits at Washington and the US Open.

Kyrgios then competed for Team World at the Laver Cup in September, before announcing later that month that he was ending his 2021 season due to a knee injury.
