With the COVID-19 pandemic throwing the world into chaos, the global pro wrestling juggernaut was forced to survive without live crowds.

The introduction of the ThunderDome visual audience last August made a huge difference to the product, but the absence of actual fans was felt throughout the entire pandemic.

WWE will head to Texas for their first event in front of fans since March 2020 with SmackDown on Friday night (Saturday morning AEST), before heading into the pay-per-view event on Sunday night (Monday morning AEST).

WHAT IS MONEY IN THE BANK?

Money In The Bank is the annual pay-per-view event named after the highly-unique match, which occurs just once a year since its inception back in 2005.

A multi-person ladder match, the winner will retrieve a briefcase that includes a contract for a world title opportunity at any time of their choosing over the next 12 months.

Originally taking place at each year's WrestleMania, the concept became so popular that it became its own pay-per-view back in 2010.

The first-ever women's Money In The Bank match took place at the 2017 event, with Carmella claiming the briefcase.

There have been a multitude of famous winners over the years including John Cena, Randy Orton, CM Punk and Brock Lesnar.

The winner can 'cash in' their title shot whenever they see fit, and over 80 per-cent of briefcase winners have gone on to win the world championship.

ARE THERE AUSTRALIANS WRESTLING AT MONEY IN THE BANK 2021?

Yes, there will be at least one Australian competitor wrestling at Money In The Bank this year.

WWE Raw Women's Champion Rhea Ripley will take on Charlotte Flair for the title.

Gold Coast's Toni Storm is also a chance of performing at the event, after she was announced to be moving up to the main roster from the developmental system NXT just last week.
