Track cycling at the Tokyo Olympics will take place in the second week of competition, and as always, there's an absolutely jam-packed schedule of events. 

The program officially begins on Monday, August 2 and continues until Sunday, August 8. 

For the first time ever, the women's madison will be staged at the Tokyo Olympics after previously appearing only as a men's event in 2008. 

Here's everything you need to know about track cycling at the Olympics. 

WHEN IS TRACK CYCLING AT THE TOKYO OLYMPICS? 

Track cycling starts in the second week of the games, getting underway on Monday, August 2. 

There' a full seven-day schedule, with the last day of track on Sunday, August 8. 

WHICH TRACK CYCLING EVENTS ARE AT THE TOKYO OLYMPICS?

There are a total of 12 track cycling events, with the following disciplines being run for men and women. 

- Team Sprint
- Sprint
- Keirin
- Team Pursuit
- Omnium 
- Madison 

HOW TO WATCH TRACK CYCLING AT THE TOKYO OLYMPICS

TV channel: Seven
Live stream: 7plus

Seven will carry live coverage of all Olympic events through its TV network and streaming services.

The network's free streaming platform, 7plus, will be carrying coverage of all the track cycling events. 

WHICH AUSTRALIANS ARE RACING ON THE TRACK IN TOKYO?

14 Australians will be riding in Tokyo, with Matthew Glaetzer and Annette Edmonson set to appear at their third games each. 

Seven riders made their debuts in Rio, while six are preparing for their very first Olympics appearances. 

Glaetzer will be joined by Nathan Hart and Matthew Richardson in the men's team sprint, with all three also scheduled to ride the individual sprint and/or the keirin.

London Olympics bronze medal winner Kaarle McCulloch will ride the individual sprint and keirin as well. 

Edmonson, Ashlee Ankudinoff, Georgia Baker, Maeve Plouffe, and Alexandra Manly form the women's track endurance team, while Sam Welsford is joined by Leigh Howard, Kelland O'Brien, Lucas Plapp and Alex Porter in the men's endurance squad.

Men's Sprint - Early rounds
Women's Keirin - Finals

Women's Sprint - Qualifying and rounds
Men's Sprint - Semis and finals
Women's Madison - Finals

Saturday 7 August

Women's Sprint - Early rounds
Men's Keirin - First Round
Men's Madison - Final
