Round 15 of the NRL presented a chance for some State of Origin hopefuls to make their case for Game II selection.

Queensland are likely to make plenty of changes after their 50-6 drubbing in Game I.

While a couple of experienced NSW names will be looking to make their way back into the side.

Throw in injuries and suspensions, blokes will have all the more reason to put their best foot forward at club level.

Here's how the contenders went in round 15.

South Sydney Rabbitohs

Latrell Mitchell  put in another great performance at the back for Souths after his standout game in Origin I. He will without a doubt be in the NSW team at Suncorp Stadium for Game II, as will  Damien Cook  who made 37 tackles and made 41 run metres out of dummy-half.

Cameron Murray  was absolutely massive against the Broncos, running for 220 metres in a fantastic 69-minute performance. Brought into the Blues extended squad for Game I, Keaon Koloamatangi was incredible in 80 minutes, running for 175 metres.

Cody Walker  was at his playmaking best with three try assists but it's unlikely to be enough to usurp Jarome Luai or Jack Wighton after their Game I performance.

Campbell Graham  scored two tries and will likely be in and around the Blues squad again as part of their extended team.

On the Queensland side of things,  Jai Arrow  will more than likely keep his Maroons starting spot after a strong game for the Rabbitohs. The same goes for  Dane Gagai  who ran for 255 run metres, had seven tackle breaks and scored a try.

Concern for Jaydn Su'A who couldn't make it into the Souths squad for the match and will struggle to keep his Maroons place.

Brisbane Broncos

Not much to go off for the Broncos in what was a heavily disappointing display against the Rabbitohs.

Xavier Coates  had a very quiet night, but produced a fantastic moment with a try saver on Dane Gagai in the first half.

Thomas Flegler was only able to run for 50 metres and is unlikely to do enough to force his way near the Maroons side.

Payne Haas  was at his industrious best again for the Broncos, almost a lone hand with 176 run metres and 41 tackles. A clear sign he is over the knee injury that placed him in doubt for Origin I.

Tevita Pangai Jr.  was hit with a suspension for a crusher tackle out of the match and is set to miss the next three weeks.

North Queensland Cowboys

Valentine Holmes was one of the best on the park for the Cowboys in their agonising loss to the Sharks. He provided a spark in attack and produced some nice heads-up plays.

Kyle Feldt did his reselction chances no harm, with two fantastic second-half tries to keep the Cowboys in the hunt.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow suffered a HIA after 22 minutes and didn't return to the match. If he is selected, he will need to pass concussion protocols to be cleared to play.

Coen Hess managed to run for over 100 metres but produced a couple of concerning reads in defence.

Francis Molo only managed 24 minutes on the field but looked dangerous when he was on, scoring a try and running for 87 metres.

Cronulla Sharks

Ronaldo Mulitalo did his Origin chances no harm, scoring a try and running for 177 metres in Cronulla's win. However, Kyle Feldt's two second-half tries both came down his wing and those defensive issues might be enough for Paul Green not to look to him.

The same could be said for Will Chambers. Despite scoring his first try for Cronulla and running for 123 metres, a number of bad defensive reads left Cronulla's left-edge vulnerable and was probably enough to see any fairytale Origin recall written off.

Aaron Woods had another impressive game for the Sharks as he captained Cronulla. He finished the match with 142 run metres and a try. With Jake Trbojevic going down with injury, there is a spot in Brad Fittler's side for a middle forward and Woods has some Origin experience but it's unlikely Fittler would go back to him. However, Toby Rudolf is another bolter who Fittler could turned to and he did his chances no harm with 150 run metres and 43 tackles in 50 minutes.

Penrith Panthers

Penrith's Origin contingent all but cemented their places for Game II after a domingnat 38-12 win over the Roosters.

Brian To'o scored a double and ran for over 200 metres again. Nathan Cleary finished with a try and two try assists as he steered his side around the park. While Jarome Luai played his role perfectly, as he helped create space for Cleary to exploit.

Isaah Yeo was one of Penrith's best on the night, finishing with a try and 137 run metres and getting a standing ovation as he left the field. Liam Martin also made the most of his opportunity in the starting side with a robust 80 minute performance.

Kurt Capewell had a quiet night overall but still managed to run for over 100 metres and finished with 25 tackles.

In the centres, Stephen Crichton and Matt Burton were impressive again. Both racked up over 100 run metres but are unlikely to force either Latrell Mitchell or Tom Trbojevic out of the side.

Api Koroisau had a very quiet night in attack and made 24 tackles for the night. Unlikely to be the sort of numbers needed to force Damien Cook out of the Blues' side.

Another bolter could be Moses Leota, with Brad Fittler searching for a middle forward in Jake Trbojevic's absence. He had a quiet night overall and finished with 88 run metres in 45 minutes.

Sydney Roosters

The Roosters struggled to have any impact against Penrith's dominant defence but James Tedesco again was able to show his class throughout the match. He had 172 run metres and nine tackle breaks.

Angus Crichton is likely to take back his starting Origin spot for Game II, especially with the absence of Jake Trbojevic. He had a solid game against the Panthers, 122 run metres, three tackles breaks and 46 tackles.

The only other player in the Roosters squad potentially in contention is Daniel Tupou. He had a relatively quiet night as the Roosters struggled to get much of the ball, but was highly unlkely to be in real consideration for Origin II over Josh Addo-Carr or Brian To'o anyway.
