Paul Vaughan has found a footy home for 2022, signing a one-year deal with the Canterbury Bulldogs.
Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett has recruited the likes of Josh Addo-Carr, Matt Dufty and Matt Burton to Belmore for 2022, which will give them plenty of strikepower out wide, but they are lacking depth in the middle.
Barrett now has Vaughan, 2022 recruit Tevita Pangai Junior, Jack Hetherington, Luke Thompson and veteran Josh Jackson to call upon.
The 30-year-old was among 13 players who were fined and suspended by the NRL after a COVID-bubble breaching house party with Vaughan copping it the hardest.
He was fined $50,000 and suspended for eight matches, but the club took even further action, tearing up his contract.
It unclear yet whether Vaughan's missed games the finish 2021 will count towards his suspension as he is not an NRL registered player.
"Paul is someone who will bring both ability and experience to our young pack for next season,” Barrett said in a statement.
“Everyone knows what a damaging ball-runner he is and the impact that he can have on a game and we believe that we will be able to harness that moving forward.
“I know that Paul is excited about the opportunity to come and join us and we believe that he still has a great deal to offer in the game.
“We look forward to seeing Paul run out in the blue and white next year and welcome him and his family to the club.”
The 30 year-old forward brings with him extensive experience having played 181 NRL matches for the Canberra Raiders and St George, after debuting in 2013.
