Jock Landale (San Antonio Spurs)

San Antonio Spurs big man Jock Landale has been placed into the league's health and safety protocols, according to  Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express News.

Landale joins fellow center Jakob Peoltl, who entered the protocols on November 3, further diminishing the team's depth in the frontcourt.

There hasn't been a timeline set for Landale's return to the team, however, Poeltl won't return to the team for at least ten days. It's highly likely that Landale will have to remain out for the same time frame as well making the Spurs' November 22 game against the Phoenix Suns the first possible game back.

Landale has found himself buried at the end of coach Gregg Popovich's rotation, behind Drew Eubanks and Peoltl as backup, and has appeared in just four games for San Antonio this season, punctuated by a 10-point and one-rebound game in just five minutes on-court in a loss against Indiana.

Last week when asked why Landale wasn't playing more, Popovich alluded to a concussion sustained by Landale late in the pre-season. He was eventually cleared and made available for opening night, but Popovich has indicated it may still be a lingering factor.

Due to the entire Spurs roster being vaccinated, there are no requirements for any other players to also enter health and safety protocols due to contact tracing.
