The Boomers will look to build on their Olympic bronze medal win and go one better than their fourth-place finish at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China.

Among the Asia teams vying for six places, Australia holds the highest world ranking, currently third in the latest FIBA standings. China is currently ranked 28th, Japan 35th and Chinese Taipei 68th.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be held across Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines — the first time this tournament is hosted by multiple countries.

The qualifiers will tip-off in November with 80 teams across the four regions of Africa, Americas, Asia/Oceania and Europe, competing across six qualifying windows to secure their spots among the 32 teams to compete in the World Cup.

Hosts Japan and the Philippines receive automatic qualification, while Indonesia can book their spot at the World Cup by finishing in the top eight teams at the FIBA Asia Cup 2021.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will take place from August 25 to September 10, 2023, with the Final phase taking place in Manila, Phillippines.
