Tim Sheens' return causes collateral damage for new-look Wests Tigers as head of football Adam Hartigan departs

Tim Sheens' impending return to the Wests Tigers has already caused some collateral damage, with the club parting ways with head of football Adam Hartigan.

The former premiership-winning coach will return to Concord ahead of the 2022 season as director of football, as the club continues to struggle for results.

Wests have been unable to make the finals since 2011 and their performances in 2021 almost cost Michael Maguire his job as coach.

In the end, Maguire was spared the axe and will remain as coach for next season, but Hartigan wasn't as lucky.

In a statement released on Friday afternoon, the club confirmed they had parted ways with Hartigan effective immediately.

"Wests Tigers have today confirmed that the club has parted ways with General Manager – Football Adam Hartigan, effective immediately," the statement said.

"Since joining the club midway through the 2019 season, Hartigan has played a key role in the recruitment and retention of a number of players to the club while also strengthening the Wests Tigers junior pathways network.

"Tim Sheens will assume the role of Director of Football, effective immediately, with the club to confirm its new-look football department next week.

"Wests Tigers would like to thank Hartigan for his efforts while at the club and wish him all the best in the future."

Hartigan isn't the only member of the Tigers' staff to depart in recent weeks, with assistant coach Shane Millard leaving a number of weeks ago.

Millard has now joined Canterbury and will act as the coach of their pathway system.
