Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Gold Coast Titans skipper Jamal Fogarty as halfback search continues

Canberra Raiders' hunt for a new halfback appears to have come to an end, with the club reportedly set to sign Gold Coast Titans skipper Jamal Fogarty .

Canberra have been looking for a No.7 for many months, after the abrupt exit of English playmaker George Williams early in the season

Fogarty signed a new deal with the Titans earlier this year and is contracted until the end of 2023 , which means he would need to gain an early release to move to Canberra.

But according to a report from News Corp ,  the club are willing to let him go with Toby Sexton seen as the future of the Titans at halfback.

Senior reporter Ben Dobbin and Fox League  both confirmed the news on Wednesday night.

“This is a situation that is playing out very slowly, but it is believed that Jamal Fogarty has played his last game for the Gold Coast Titans," he said.

"Still contracted with the club until 2023, it’s believed his management has been in discussion with the Canberra Raiders and there looks to be a deal very imminent.

"At the present moment, Fogarty would like to go to the nation’s capital next season. It would be a three-year deal, but the Titans are yet to have a formal offer from any rival club.

"Speaking to the Titans today, they said they would not stand in the way of a player that doesn’t want to be at the Gold Coast Titans.

"It’s believed he is likely to sign with the Canberra Raiders in the coming weeks."

The 27-year-old debuted in 2017, but played just two games before dropping out of the side until 2020, where he produced a breakout season in the NRL.

Fogarty was announced as co-captain earlier this year alongside Kevin Proctor
