Bryson DeChambeau made it to the final eight of the Professional Long Drive Championships on Friday before falling 6 yards short of advancing to the championship round.

DeChambeau’s longest drive Friday was 406 yards during the Round of 16. It wasn’t enough to win that set, however, as Martin Borgmeier went 416 yards. DeChambeau also hit a drive that had a 218 mph ball speed.

Borgmeier beat DeChambeau again in the final eight with a 397-yard drive. DeChambeau's longest drive in the set was only 391 yards. DeChambeau left the playing field to a standing ovation. His final set raked in around 45,000 YouTube viewers.

PGA Tour veteran Fred Couples congratulated DeChambeau on Twitter, thanking him for the "show" he gave golf fans this week.

DeChambeau competed in six rounds over five days at the event, and he made it much farther than people expected a PGA Tour professional to go. His longest drive of the week was 416 yards, which was 1 yard short of his monster drive last weekend at the Ryder Cup.

During Wednesday's round, DeChambeau's drives dropped in bounds 70 percent of the time, compared to an average of 20 percent for his opponents. His accuracy throughout the event helped him to continue advancing, as hitting out of bounds can hurt a golfer's score.
