Adelaide United coach Carl Veart isn't worried about his side slipping up on an artificial pitch when they face Adelaide Olympic in the FFA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

While the majority of Round of 32 matches are yet to be played due to COVID-19 restrictions, the two Adelaide clubs will face off in a Round of 16 clash as they race ahead in the competition.

Olympic will host the match at VALO Football Centre which means the teams will do battle on an artificial pitch.

Despite A-League clubs generally avoiding playing on such a surface, Veart stressed the Reds aren't worried and ready to perform.

"I have no concerns about the artificial pitch. I’ve spent a lot of time training on those pitches when I was in the youth development side so I have no concerns on the pitch," Veart told Triple M's The Real Football Show

"There are a lot of misconceptions about the artificial pitches.

"I think they’ve improved vastly since they first came out and one positive about the artificial pitch on Sunday is the ball is not going to bounce all over the place so it’s going to allow both teams to play some good football.

"Most of our games are played on grass pitches. This is a one-off game against Olympic on the artificial so there’s no need for us to play anymore games on the artificial."

With the FFA Cup not completed in 2020, Adelaide United remain the title holders after beating Melbourne City in the 2019 final.

The Reds are the most successful club in the competition with three titles to their name and have their sights set firmly on a fourth.

"Every game that we play as a professional outfit we go out to win and we’re looking forward to retaining the FFA Cup," he said.

"The club has had a great history in the FFA Cup so far and we want to keep that going.

"We know it’s going to be a tough game against Olympic. They’ve had a good season, underperformed in where they finished in the league, but they showed the quality they have in their game against Joondalup in the FFA Cup."
