After a turbulent September, Ange Postecoglou got Celtic flying in October and has been rewarded with the Scottish Premiership Manager of the Month award.

The Hoops didn't lose any of their five leagues games during October and only dropped points in an unfortunate 0-0 draw with Livingston that saw Giorgos Giakoumakis have a late penalty saved.

Celtic's four wins saw them score 11 goals and concede just twice with Postecoglou's side rising to second in the league as a result with leaders Rangers now only four points clear.

The successful month was key for both club and manager following a disappointing September in which the Hoops suffered three losses including a heavy 4-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.

Postecoglou's side have stepped up when it counted though and the Aussie coach was all too aware of how important that was as he picked up his manager of the month award.

"When you have such a strong period, it’s a reflection of the whole group," Postecoglou said via Celtic TV

"The players have maintained a fantastic level of performance, but also all the staff. You only get that consistency of performance if the whole group is contributing and this award is a great reflection of their efforts.

"It's other people within this building that help them prepare for games. This has been a team effort and it will continue to be that way.

"What can’t be overlooked is that it was a critical period for us, we almost had to be perfect in this period if we wanted to maintain our progress.

"Our away record prior wasn’t great. We knew we had three tough away games in that period against good opponents, so to win was super pleasing and to see the players cope with that kind of pressure.

"What we do know is that won’t ease up. We’ve got to continue and the players and staff will get a lot of belief knowing we have come through that period so well."

After the international break, Celtic will return to action at home against St. Johnstone in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals.

As Postecoglou finds his feet in Scotland, his name has been thrown in the ring with Premier League side Aston Villa on the lookout for a new manager
