India have kept their T20 World Cup semi-final hopes alive with a crushing win over Scotland but they still need other results to go their way, while New Zealand edged closer to the last four with a comfortable victory against Namibia.

Here's a wrap of all the T20 World Cup action overnight.

INDIA THRASH SCOTLAND BUT NEED LUCK TO MAKE SEMIS

India can still make the T20 World Cup semi-final after a huge eight-wicket victory against Scotland in Dubai, but they will need New Zealand to beat Afghanistan on Sunday.

Led by spin trio Ravichandran Ashwin, Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja - who took seven Scottish wickets - India stifled their opponent and rolled them for 85 after 17.4 overs.

Only four Scotland batters reached double figures with opener George Munsey (24) and Michael Leask (21) providing any sort of resistance.

India comfortably reached the 86 target to win in only 6.3 overs and two wickets down, with KL Rahul (50) and Rohit Sharma (30) doing most of the work.

Rahul's innings was particularly devastating, smashing his half century off only 19 balls with six 4's and three 6's in his performance.

The Indians should comfortably account for Namibia on Tuesday, but a win in that match and a New Zealand victory against Afghanistan is the only way they qualify for the last four of the tournament.

NEW ZEALAND'S DESTINY IN THEIR HANDS AFTER COMFORTABLE NAMIBIA VICTORY

New Zealand cruised to a 52-run win against Namibia in Sharjah to go within one victory of a semi-final berth at the T20 World Cup.

The Kiwis eased to the victory over the smallest nation at the tournament and can now secure a last four position with a win over Afghanistan on Sunday.

In their 20 overs, New Zealand set a total of 4/163, with all six batters reaching double figures in a team performance at the crease.

Glenn Phillips (39*) and James Neesham (35*) steered the innings to completion, with an unbeaten 76-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Namibia battled valiantly to reach the target but were stifled by New Zealand's bowlers to finish 7/111 after 20 overs - 52 runs short of their goal.

Three Kiwi bowlers went for under six-an-over during their 24 balls with Tim Southee (2/15) the most effective, while Trent Boult (2/20) and Mitchell Santner played their parts (1/20).
