Takeshi Inoue believes his big fight and international experience will give him the edge over Tim Tszyu in Sydney next Wednesday.

The hard-hitting Japanese fighter has arrived in Australia and is out of hotel quarantine ahead of his bid to derail Tszyu's title shot hopes.

Inoue has previously challenged for a world title - going down via unanimous decision to Jaime Munguia in 2019 but winning plenty of fans with his aggressive style and toughness.

Appearing at an open training session in Sydney on Tuesday, Inoue, via translator, said Tszyu's record was lacking international challenges.

"Because Tim Tszyu has only fought in Australia, he hasn't got experience overseas like I have, including Munguia," Inoue said.

"I lost but the fight was very close so I am quite confident and I have much more experience so I think I can beat Tim Tszyu.

"I'll try to fight Tim the same way I did Munguia."

Inoue did however acknowledge his opponent's unblemished 19-0 record and skillset.

"I respect his results because he hasn't lost and I also respect his boxing technique," he added.

Inoue, 31, comes into the bout with a formidable 17-1-1 record and will be hoping to spoil what will otherwise be Tszyu's final fight in Australia before he heads overseas to chase super-welterweight champions Brian Castano and Jermell Charlo.

Despite spending time in quarantine, Inoue's jacked physique caught the eye as he was put through his paces in front of Sydney media.

Former world champion Billy Dib and Tszyu's sparring partner and former opponent Joel Camilleri both made mention of Inoue's shape.

"He's built really well for that weight, he actually looks like a bit of a bodybuilder to be honest, but I guess that's what works for him," Dib said

"He looks massive, I don't know how he's the same weight as me but at the end of the day muscles don't fight for you," Camilleri added.

Tszyu is putting his status as mandatory challenger to Castano's WBO belt on the line this fight.

Promoter George Rose of No Limit was keen to remind fans of the threat Inoue poses.

"Tim Tszyu's at a point in his career now where everyone thinks he's going to win every fight that he steps into regardless of the calibre of the opponent that he steps in with," Rose told Sporting News.

"The fact is Takeshi Inoue beats any other fighter in Australia, he beats a lot of other fighters across the world.

"He's number seven for a reason, he's fought for a world title and he's actually one of the best fighters in the world."

Tszyu and Inoue are set to come face-to-face for the first time on Thursday ahead of their bout at Qudos Bank Arena next Wednesday.
