Sheffield Shield: Business as usual as Shaun Marsh and Cameron Green ton up in season opener

It was business as usual on the opening day of the Sheffield Shield season, with Western Australia stars Cameron Green and Shaun Marsh both scoring centuries.

With so much drama surrounding the start of the season due to the pandemic, WA won the toss against South Australia and began their campaign in style on Friday at Karen Rolton Oval.

After being 2/82 early in the day, Marsh (118) was joined at the crease by Green (106), with the pair putting on a 199-run stand before both men fell to Redbacks new recruit Nathan McAndrew.

The 22-year-old Green has now scored eight centuries in first-class cricket, and is continuing his rise to stardom here in Australia.

As for the veteran Marsh, he continues to set the standards in WA and remains one of the best players in the Shield competition into his late-30s.

South Australia struggled with the ball for the most part, with the aforementioned McAndrew (3/48) the only standout as WA finished the day 4/324.
