Jordan De Goey has escaped serious penalty for his role in an incident at a New York nightclub last year.
The Collingwood star appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court via video link on Friday and pleaded guilty to harassment in the second degree, which is considered a violation, not a crime.
De Goey agreed to plead guilty to the lesser charge as part of a deal which saw three, more-serious charges dropped.
The 25-year-old apologised for his action and will be required to complete 10 therapy sessions in Australia.
"The sentence of this court is a conditional discharge, the conditions being: Remain arrest-free for one year, and complete 10 therapy sessions concentrating on anger management and alcohol treatment. There is also a mandatory surcharge," Judge Marisol Martinez Alonso said.
Earlier this month, De Goey was cleared to return to pre-season training after a New York court confirmed he wouldn't be handed a criminal conviction.
The star midfield-forward was stood down by the club following the incident which occurred while he was in the US on a training camp.
De Goey was originally charged with forceful touching, assault and aggravated harrassment, though the former was dropped shortly after the incident, which saw the footballer spend a night in jail following an altercation at a nightclub.
