NRL 2022: Every player off-contract and available to sign a contract for 2023

The NRL player market faces a seismic shift later this year, with some of the game's biggest names coming off-contract at the end of 2022.

As of November 1, the likes of Brandon Smith, Viliame Kikau and Cody Walker, among plenty of other top-line talent, will become open to offers from rival clubs for season 2023.

It represents an important phase in a club's build towards premiership glory in the future, while sides like Melbourne, Penrith and Parramatta face a huge fight on their hands to retain some of their best players.

Here's a full list of players from each club coming off contract at the end of 2022 and all the latest contract news.

BRISBANE BRONCOS

Players off contract: 10

Herbie Farnworth, Deloiuse Hoeter, Ryan James, Albert Kelly, Rhys Kennedy, David Mead, Corey Oates, Keenan Palasia, Jake Turpin, Billy Walters

Broncos contract news

Patrick Carrigan has re-signed with the club until the end of 2024. 

Jamayne Isaako will link up with former Broncos coach at expansion club The Dolphins in 2023. 

CANBERRA RAIDERS

Josh Hodgson has officially signed with Parramatta for 2023 and beyond. 

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS

Bulldogs contract news

New recruits John Asiata, Matt Dufty, Max King and Paul Vaughan  will want to hit the ground running at Canterbury, with all four players only signing one-year deals. 

Nick Cotric has been granted an early release from his contract. 

CRONULLA SHARKS

Luke Metcalf has officially signed with the Warriors for 2023. 

Blayke Brailey has signed a new four-year deal to tie his future to Cronulla until the end of 2026.

Titans contract news

Tino Fa'asuamelaui has re-signed until the end of 2026, with the Titans holding off a bid from expansion club, The Dolphins. 

Phillip Sami will remain at the club until the end of 2024, signing a two-year contract extension. 

MANLY SEA EAGLES

Players off contract: 6

Morgan Boyle, Andrew Davey, Sione Fainu, Kieran Foran, Jorge Taufua, Martin Taupau

Sea Eagles contract news

Moses Suli has signed with the Dragons for 2022 and beyond, despite still having a year to run on his deal at Manly. Cade Cust has also been granted an early release and will move to the Super League.

The Sea Eagles have reportedly told prop Martin Tapau they wouldn't stand in his way from taking up a new contract elsewhere after this season. On close to $800,000 a year, The Daily Telegraph report Taupau won't be resigned by Manly beyond 2022.

Karl Lawton has been rewarded for a strong first year at Manly with an extension. 

Young gun trio Ben Trbojevic, Tolutau Koula and Kaeo Weekes have all signed contract extensions. 

MELBOURNE STORM

Storm contract news

Melbourne have confirmed Brandon Smith will leave the club at the end of next season, with the hooker signing with the Roosters for 2023 and beyond. 

Felise Kaufusi and Jesse Bromwich will head to NRL expansion club the Dolphins in 2023. 

Christian Welch has signed a new three-year deal with the Storm, where he'll remain until the end of 2025.

Reimis Smith and Jack Howarth have both inked new deals with Melbourne. 

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS

Players off contract: 10

Warriors contract news

Kane Evans was granted an early release from his contract to move to the Super League.

Jamayne Taunoa-Brown was also allowed to leave early and has inked a deal with North Queensland. 

Wayde Egan has signed a two-year extension. 

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

Knights contract news

Mitchell Pearce has been granted an early release by the Knights, taking up a deal with Super League club Catalans.

Enari Tuala has re-signed until the end of 2023.

Cowboys contract news

North Queensland have locked in Origin star Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow for a further year, getting in before the November 1 date. 

Emerging forward Reuben Cotter has signed a three-year extension that will take through to the end of 2025 in Townsville.

Javid Bowen has been forced into retirement due to a knee injury. 

PARRAMATTA EELS

Players off contract: 8

Eels contract news

Parramatta have a huge fight on their hands to ward off rival interest in a number of their star players.

The signatures of Clint Gutherson and Junior Paulo were reportedly at the top of the Eels' priority list, and the club have now snapped up both men to long-term extensions. 

Reed Mahoney is widely reported to have signed with the Canterbury Bulldogs for season 2023.

Reagan Campbell-Gillard inked a new deal to stay at the club, but second-rower Marata Niukore has linked up with the Warriors for 2023 and beyond. 

Isaiah Papali'i will move to the Tigers from 2023 onwards, signing a three-year deal with the club. Ray Stone has signed a two-year deal with The Dolphins for 2023. 

Jake Arthur, Makahesi Makatoa and Sean Russell have all re-signed for 2023. Oregon Kaufusi has signed with the Sharks for 2023 onwards. 

PENRITH PANTHERS

Players off contract: 16

Panthers contract news 

Viliame Kikau has signed with the Bulldogs for season 2023. Although the move hasn't officially been announced, the Tongan star was pictured posing in a Bulldogs polo with coach Trent Barrett and football manager Phil Gould.

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

Alex Johnston has signed a long-term extension with South Sydney. 

Already taken off the market, Cody Walker has signed a new one-year deal that will keep him at South Sydney until at least the end of 2023.

Jayden Sullivan has re-signed with the Dragons until the end of 2025. 

The club have told Tariq Sims that he won't be offered a deal for 2023 and beyond at this stage, leading to speculation he could depart the Dragons early. 

Aaron Woods, Jack Gosiewski and Tautau Moga will all want to impress early, with the new recruits signing one-year deals. 

SYDNEY ROOSTERS
