Sporting News has everything you need to know about the Mackinnon Stakes Day 2021.

When is Mackinnon Stakes Day 2021?

This year's Mackinnon Stakes Day meet will take place on Saturday, November 6.

In 2016, the Victoria Racing Club moved the racing event to the last day of the Melbourne Carnival.

The race day started in 1869 with the name Melbourne Stakes Day.

The name was changed to the Mackinnon Stakes in 1937 in tribute to former VRC chairman Lauchlan Mackinnon.

Where is Mackinnon Stakes Day held?

Mackinnon Stakes Day is held at Flemington Racecourse, which is about 6km northwest of Melbourne's CBD.

Flemington opened in 1840 and now features a six furlong or 1200m straight, known as 'the Straight Six'. Its home straight is 450m long and races are run anti-clockwise.
