Paul McGregor has landed a new role at the Eels, joining Michael Ennis as new additions to Brad Arthur's coaching staff for season 2022.

Parramatta confirmed both McGregor and Ennis will assume coaching consultancy roles next year in support of Arthur, who recently re-signed for a further two seasons.

McGregor coached the Dragons for seven years to become the joint ventures longest-serving head coach before he was replaced by Anthony Griffin at the start of this year.

He played 124 senior games for the Illawarra Steelers and 34 for St. George Illawarra, as well as earning 14 caps for New South Wales and playing three Tests for Australia in a career spanning 10 years.

Along with joining Arthur's staff next season, McGregor will be part of Brad Fittler's NSW Blues Origin coaching staff.

Ennis, meanwhile, played 274 games with the Sharks, Bulldogs, Broncos, Knights and Dragons, along with eight games for NSW.

Since retiring after winning a premiership with the Sharks in 2016, Ennis has worked in the media and more recently operated in a consultancy capacity on Ricky Stuart's coaching staff at Canberra.

Parramatta confirmed the pair's appointment to Arthur's staff on Friday.

"Michael and Paul had long and successful careers as players, Paul spent seven years as head coach of St George Illawarra and Michael has most recently spent time with Canberra as part of their coaching staff," a club statement read.

"Both men bring a wealth of football knowledge and experience, and will no doubt be valuable additions to our team."
