A mystery back injury has seen Mitch Moses ruled out indefinitely for Parramatta in a potentially detrimental blow to the club's premiership chances.

The Eels have revealed Moses suffered a minor back fracture in his Origin debut for New South Wales in the Game III loss to Queensland last Wednesday night.

The club says Moses will be monitored and that it's hoped the star playmaker will return "as soon as possible", with a return to play date unclear at this stage.

Moses was initially named to back up from his Origin duties last week before Friday night's win over the Titans, before being ruled out alongside NSW teammate Junior Paulo. However, it appears his ommission came as a result of the back injury.

The in-form halfback has played every game this season for the Eels barring last week's clash with the Titans, and his indefinite unavailability could be costly to the club's run home to the finals.
