A new format for the NRL's Dally M Awards has been overwhelmingly criticised by the game's supporters, with multiple fans calling it 'awful'.
The award ceremony, which is usually held on one evening, has been split over two nights in Brisbane starting with Monday's announcement of the five NRL Dally M Medal nominees with a broadcast similar to an episode of NRL 360.
The winner of the Dally M is set to be announced on the second part of the event next week on September 27 at Howard Smith Wharves with Nathan Cleary, Tom Trbojevic, Daly Cherry-Evans, Cody Walker and James Tedesco in contention for the award.
However, the new-look event setup has been widely panned by fans, with many querying multiple parts of the format, while others felt it was 'dull'.
