Canberra backrower Corey Harawira-Naera can escape with a three-week suspension for his high shot on Jahrome Hughes on Thursday night.
Hughes was left concussed by the brutal tackle in the final minutes of the game, seeing Harawira-Naera sent off by referee Gerard Sutton.
The match review committee has now charged the 26-year-old with a grade three reckless high tackle.
Harawira-Naera will miss three weeks with an early guilty plea, or can risk a four-week suspension if he is found guilty at the judiciary.
The charge carries a base penalty of 600 points – equating to six weeks – but the 25 per cent deduction for an early guilty plea, coupled with another 25 per cent discount for seven years without a charge, sees Harawira-Naera get off relatively lightly.
More to come.
